Artemis Lodge
Artemis is the name that has been chosen for the lodge that will be consecrated in November as she was the Greek Goddess of Hunting which is appropriate for a shooting sports lodge.
This venture has grown out of the Sussex Masonic Shooting Sports Association which has been meeting regularly since the beginning of 2017. A core team have been planning the formation of the lodge which is now being put into effect.
Plans have been made for the lodge along the lines of the highly successful Middlesex Shooting Sports Lodge which has a strong field sports theme. These plans have reached an advanced stage with the full support of Provincial Grand Lodge a petition has now been submitted to UGLE.
Some of the key elements planned are as follows:
- It will have a strong sporting theme with the dress code as for a formal shoot.
- It will be based at the Masonic Centre in Chichester
- There will be four meetings per year, on the 2nd Tuesday in February, April, September and November
- The meetings will be arranged to make them easy to attend for busy people, and those with young families.
- Initial and ongoing costs will be kept to affordable levels.
Currently many of the offices are filled but several remain so there are opportunities for existing masons to be founders if they have an interest in shooting.
