The SMSSA is closely associated with Artemis Lodge as organiser of the shooting activities. It been active since the beginning of 2017 hosting friendly, informal clay shoots. These provide an opportunity for non masons and partners as well as established masons to meet and get to know each other, united by a common interest in shooting.

Shoots are held on a regular basis at Southdown Gun Club, the mid week ones being on the morning of the first Friday in the month.  Other events such as charity and weekend shoots are organised on an occasional basis.  Southdown is conveniently located just north of Worthing near Findon and is right in the heart of the South Downs.
